What You Need to Know About ESE Services

what-you-need-to-know-about-ese-services

Children with disabilities who require specially designed instruction and services are called exceptional students in Florida. These students receive exceptional student education or ESE services to help these students with disabilities progress in school and prepare for a bright future ahead.

As a learning academy in Florida, we offer ESE services, which include specially designed instruction to meet the unique needs of our students. This may include therapy, special transportation, technology devices, or other supports. In addition to our staff, we include the parents when making decisions about the child’s needs and the ESE services required.

The main steps in the ESE decision-making process include a referral for individual evaluation and entail a formal review of the information regarding the child’s learning needs, problems, interests, and strengths. The decision-making process also includes an individual evaluation and an eligibility determination. To receive special education, the child must meet the criteria listed in Florida’s State Board of Education Rules.

Once the child is eligible for ESE services, the next step is a meeting to create the Individual Education Plan (IEP). The parents are also invited to this meeting as part of the IEP team. During the meeting, they will discuss which special services and supports the child needs to make progress and achieve his or her annual goals.
