What Is VPK SIS?

VPK Specialized Instructional Services, also called VPK SIS, is designed for eligible preschool children with special needs who may benefit from specialized instruction, therapy collaboration, communication support, and individualized school readiness services.

Important: VPK SIS is for eligible 4-year-old students with an active IEP or approved eligibility through the Early Learning Coalition.

Who We Serve

Preschool Learners

Children preparing for Kindergarten who need additional support with early learning skills.

Diverse Learners

Students with autism, developmental delays, speech needs, sensory needs, or learning differences.

Students With IEPs

Families may use VPK SIS when the child has qualifying documentation and ELC approval.

School Readiness Support

Children build classroom routines, communication, social skills, and early academic readiness.

Therapies & Supports

Speech Support

Communication, language, requesting, following directions, and social language practice.

Occupational Therapy Support

Fine motor, sensory regulation, handwriting readiness, and daily classroom participation.

ABA Collaboration

Behavior support, routines, transitions, communication, and positive reinforcement strategies.

Music & Movement

Movement, rhythm, songs, sensory play, and engaging activities that support early development.

Sample Daily Schedule

Time Activity
8:00 AM Arrival, greeting, unpacking, and visual schedule review
8:30 AM Circle time, songs, calendar, and communication practice
9:00 AM Small group literacy and early math
10:00 AM Snack, sensory break, and social skills
10:30 AM Centers, play-based learning, and fine motor activities
11:30 AM Movement, music, outdoor play, and closing routine
12:00 PM VPK dismissal or wrap-around transition

Enrollment Requirements

VPK SIS Eligibility

Families must have approved eligibility through the Early Learning Coalition.

IEP Documentation

An active IEP or qualifying documentation may be required for VPK SIS enrollment.

Birth Certificate

A copy of the child’s birth certificate is required for enrollment records.

Immunization Records

Families must submit a current Florida DH Form 680 or approved exemption/waiver.
